As founder of SCI (now Aquionics Technologies) in 1973, I often reflect back on the 5 decades of innovative product development and manufacturing I have enjoyed. I cannot recall reflecting on the financial hardships, and there were plenty. Sometimes I ponder on what stimulus caused me to embark on so many crusades, like taking on multi-nationals at their own game in industrial chemical formulation by building our own production equipment, or designing and fabricating helical winding machines for filter production to combat the aggression of overseas filter manufacturers. The same stimulus always comes to mind. It was not a matter of striving for wealth or becoming a bigger cog in the industrial machine, it was about the thrill of achievement, and in Australian ideology, it’s called “having a go”!

Now, in 2020, and in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, it is critical that all businesses “trim their sails and set their course” for a sustainable future. For Aquionics Technologies, our immediate action is to focus on our local and international dealers, and providing improved technical and marketing support while maintaining our competitive edge.
